BLOOD DRIVE AT THE LIBRARY APRIL 4, 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. ON THE BLOOD BUS
FREE Blood Typing available inside the Library
Curious about your blood type? Here’s a quick, painless way to find out.
Just a small “finger-poke” sample is needed for blood-type testing, and results will be available immediately, courtesy of Michigan Community Blood Centers. In the “ABO” system used to type human blood, there are a total of 8 different blood types. Each type is distinguished by specific antigens that are present on the red cells at birth and remain there throughout life. What type of blood you have determines what type of blood you may receive if you ever need a transfusion.
Michigan Community Blood Centers will also offer free hematocrit testing, to measure the red-cell volume of your blood. Because red blood cells carry iron, hematocrit results provide a reference point regarding the level of iron in your blood.
If you want to find out your blood type, hematocrit, and save up to 3 lives, donate a pint of blood on the blood bus. Any healthy person 17 or older who weighs 110 pounds or more may be eligible to give blood every 56 days. Bring photo ID or 2 pieces of non-photo ID. If you have questions, please call Michigan Community Blood Centers at 231-935-3030 or toll free at 1-866-MIBLOOD (press 6). It’s About Life.
TAX FORMS AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR LINKS
Need tax forms? Just click on the links below for Federal and State forms. These forms may be printed for free. If you have searched and come up with a site that charges - DO NOT use it. Basic forms and instruction books are available at YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY - neither the post office, nor anywhere else outside of the State Treasury Department or Federal IRS offices have them.
